Jimmy also wrote;

“Along with all Arctic veterans I have a special personal relationship with the Russian people. Whatever the present day international situation one cannot change history.

I am looking forward very much to attending the Victory ceremony on Wednesday. It is wonderful to see such personal feeling expressed and the hospitality of our hosts is warm and friendly.

The RAC and Russian Federation have cemented a friendship that will remain for ever”

Kind regards,
Jimmy Baynes

Memorial Service, November 2017, Edinburgh, Scotland

A memorial service was held in Edinburgh by Legion Scotland and myself (Anna – RACC chair and daughter of Stanley McKessock) and another daughter of a Convoy Veteran attended. Hilda (daughter of veteran Ron Mackie) and her husband Colin attended the full service and laid the RACC wreath and later we left a memorial cross at the Scott Monument gardens for our Fathers, went for dinner and raised a glass to all our Fathers, Uncles and the Men of The Convoys.

RACC Books & Publications

We have a new page on our website where you can find information about our publications.

Any/all profit comes back to RACC and helps pay for the website hosting, as everyone who helps us does so for free (and pays their own way voluntarily to events etc)

We use ‘lulu’ print by demand so that the publications will always be available to you – so please do have a wee look. We’ve also put up a couple of downloads of The contents of newsletters 1 to 11 (so you can see what is in them) and an Order form (if you prefer ‘talking’ to us via post) We do have some items here in Dundee, Scotland (where RACC is based) and are happy to post these out too – so please do get in touch if you have any queries.

In August 2016 there will be events in the UK & Russia to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the very first convoy to Russia.

Operation “Dervish” left Liverpool, England on the 12th August 1941, gathered ships at Scapa Flow, Scotland and safely arrived in Russia on the 31st August.

We are very happy & proud to announce that some of our members will be attending events in the UK & Russia and Thank the Russian Federation for their on-going support for our Veterans & war heroes.
