Due to coronovirus, HMS Unicorn is temporarily closed. We will update when it re-opens here and on our facebook page & event
In the meantime, we are working on some online presentations for you so check back soon!
In association with HMS Unicorn, here in Bonnie Dundee, we have a small exhibition taking place from 24th February to 28th June 2020.
On display are eight panels telling the story of the Russian Convoys and some of the memorabilia (diary, dog tag, medals, photographs, telegram) of Stanley McKessock and Colin Cox.
During WWII Dundee was the base for International submarines and the Scottish head quarters of the Norwegian Navy.
So if you are in Dundee, please do come along and have a look. Anna McKessock (chair) has already done a talk with more information & photos and is also talking part in the Spring Fayre and additional talks in Dundee.
Veteran Murray Haddow commissioned a painting of the memorial stone at Cove, Loch Ewe (which was placed there by the original Russian Convoy Club).
His daughter-in-law Fiona Haddow, a Dundee artist, created the painting which was on the wall of Murray’s home.
In November 2018, Murray presented the painting to Andrey A Pritsepov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Edinburgh and the painting was then sent to Russia where Timofey Kunitskiy then presented it to the new Arctic Convoys museum in St Petersburg.
We have a new page on our website where you can find information about our publications.
Any/all profit comes back to RACC and helps pay for the website hosting, as everyone who helps us does so for free (and pays their own way voluntarily to events etc)
We use ‘lulu’ print by demand so that the publications will always be available to you – so please do have a wee look. We’ve also put up a couple of downloads of The contents of newsletters 1 to 11 (so you can see what is in them) and an Order form (if you prefer ‘talking’ to us via post) We do have some items here in Dundee, Scotland (where RACC is based) and are happy to post these out too – so please do get in touch if you have any queries.
