And.. Happy St Andrews Day from all of us here in Dundee, Scotland – including Salty the ships cat!!
We were delighted to put several of our Veterans in touch with each other recently, after they had decided to go to France for the D-Day events in June 2019. Talking by email and telephone, it gave them a chance to get in touch with each other and meet up & have some company for these events.
Here is an article featuring John Roberts, who is proudly wearing his Russian Convoy Club beret & Badge, which we recently sent out to him! We can’t wait to see more photos 🙂
The Russian Arctic Convoys Club C21 (RACC) is a founding member of the Brotherhood of The Allied Convoys, which was formed in Iceland in August 2018. In December 2018 a conference was held in St Petersburg, Russia and I and my husband Callum attended.
We flew out a couple of days before so we could have some time in St Petersburg and visited a few ‘touristy’ places and mingled with the Russian people, who were very social and helpful. The conference itself was well attended and we were very well looked after by the St Petersburg members.
More details are in our Newsletter 15 (Spring 2019) and here is a small film we made too 🙂 Anna
The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Edinburgh held their annual Russia Day and we were delighted to take part. Anna (chair) and Callum (vice-chair) attended and met up with Veterans, families & friends in celebration of ‘Russia Day’.
Many thanks to Andrey A Pritsepov (Consul General), Alexandra Pritsepov, Alexei G Kulakov (Senior Counsellor), Anastasia S Iliinskaya (Vice-Consul), Maxim A Gurov (Attache) and all the staff who organised the music, which was very enjoyable, entertainment and all.
Veteran David Craig gave a speech and the Veterans had a great time and had quite a few laughs with us all. We also met members of the Immortal Regiment group in Edinburgh and we hope to work with them in the future.
